David S. Johnson is the Economic Development Director for Cedar City & Iron County Economic Development. David has broad experience working in the public, private and non-profit sectors for nearly two decades, including economic development, government and non-profit management, strategic and long-range planning, public budgeting, large-scale infrastructure projects, public relations, crisis communications, and events management.
David previously served as the City Manager for Blanding, Utah and is one of only 23 professionals in Utah credentialed by the International City/County Managers Association (ICMA). David also served as the Economic Development Director for Saratoga Springs, Utah.
David earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Brigham Young University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Utah. He is the son of a 20-year US Navy Veteran, who served on the USS Nimitz (CVN68) aircraft carrier. He and his wife are proud parents, avid marathon runners, and outdoor enthusiasts. David also serves as the Vice Chair of an Olympic-level professional running team in Utah, known as the Run Elite Program.
